"We've failed as a nation to make our people, the suffering masses, taste of happiness which the OIL BOOM once brought. Apart from oil, we, as a nation, have tremendous and almost limitless natural resources. We have not been able to convert these resources to sources of happiness, glory and abundance the "Haves" and the "Have nots" to grow to such an alarmingly wide extent that today, only Allah, or our saviour sent by Allah, can help us to shorten or narrow it to an acceptable and credible standard". 

The above statement was opined by Great Lam in 1984 and published by Nigeria Tribune, in their column. 

Down 2022, still resonating "the communication gaps" between today's leaders and the followers (masses and the poor). You will not but agree with me that, We're in dial need of an accessible, responsive and results oriented leader, especially in our Senatorial district(Oyo central).

Year in, year out, we've had several leaders, who has, in their respective capabilities represent the district, they've not performed badly too, but, Dr. Yunus Akintunde will bring an enviable dividends of democracy to the Senatorial district.

There's a saying that, "All men stand adversity, if you want to test true character of a person, give him power". Dr. Yunus Akintunde is not a new comer in Oyo State political clime, he has, on several occasions, even with less office, delivers, even beyond imagination.

We understands people with opposing opinion, as "As faces are different, so are interests. Maturity entails respecting people's opinions or disagreeing with them in a civil manner. People see things differently". 

I believe, with time, they'll definitely see reasons to support Dr. Yunus.

He has been a great philanthropist over 2 decades in Oyo town, Oyo central and Oyo State as a whole.

 He was born on the 6th of March, 1962 in the ancient town of Oyo, Oyo state, Nigeria.

He obtained his primary education at Ansar-Ud-Deen Model Primary School in Oyo town, where he got his Primary School Leaving Certificate.

He thereafter proceeded to Oranyan Grammar School in Oyo, where he obtained his West African Examination Council, WAEC result.

In furtherance of his Education, he proceeded to Ibadan Polytechnic where he got his National Diploma certificate in Physics and Electronics. Thereafter, he proceeded to the Lagos state University, LASU, where he bagged a BSC (Hon) in Physics. In the same Lagos State University, he obtained a Masters in Public Administration (MPA).

Later, he went to University of Ibadan where he got an Msc in Energy studies. In the same university of Ibadan, he obtained a PhD in Energy and Environment.

Moreover, as a Grassroots personality, AKINTUNDE’s love for his people is legendary, for which he has been rewarded with a number of political appointments, Thus;

1. He served as Commissioner at Oyo state Civil Service Commission between 1999-2003, and During this period, he was able to facilitate the appointment of over 72 graduates from Oyo federal constituency and ensured their career progression and development.

2. Commissioner for Works and Transport of Oyo state between 2011-2012, and During this period, he initiated and completed several new road projects across the State. He also facilitated and supervised the rehabilitation of several existing roads across the State.

Executive Assistant to the Governor of Oyo state between 2014-2015. During this period, he promoted Inter and Intra governmental relations. He supported the state government on strategic policy plans, monitoring and implementation. He also supported the state government in realizing it’s strategic objectives, among others.

4. Community and Social Responsibility- At federal college of Education, he facilitated the following

A. Vocational and Technical Education building

B. Student affairs complex

C. 500 seater lecture Theater I & II

D. Construction of Roads and Drainages

E. Indoor Sport complex

F. Guidance and Counselling Building, among Others

5. Solar Powered Street Light; He was a major facilitator, hence he made provision for

i Pakoyi-Enuonoba-Kolobo Road in Oyo West

ii Ladindin-Isokun-Ojungbodu Road in Oyo West

iii Ikunsin Village ( Ogo-Oluwa)

iv Ibere community (Surulere)

v Shasah Market (Akinyele)

vi Oke-Orere, Lalupon(Lagelu)

Among others.

6. Construction of a block of 3 classrooms with borehole and toilet: He facilitated this project in the following places, which are;

i. Tose community Primary School, Tose ( Akinyele)

ii. AUD Primary School, Ilora (Atiba)

iii. St Peter’s Primary School, Odan (Egbeda)

Among others

7. Construction of a block of 2 classrooms with office and store: He facilitated in Pakoyi community Primary School (Enuoranoba)

And also, AUD PRIMARY School (Alagbon)

And host of others

8. Solar Powered Borehole: He facilitated Iroko community opposite Iroko Grammar School, Iroko (Akinyele)

ii Adogba junction Ward 6, (Egbeda)

iii Oluwo ward 9, (Egbeda),

iv Isokan-Omokiti Area in Oyo East,

Among others.

9. ICT Centres(Knowledge Access Venue): He facilitated Oranyan Grammar School in Oyo, Abiodun Atiba Memorial Secondary School in Oyo, Ansar-Ud-Deen Grammar School, Opapa in Oyo, Centre for Petroleum, Energy and Economics Law (CPEEL) in the University of Ibadan

Among others.

10. Social Responsibility-He was a Patron of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (Oyo state Chapter)

B. He was the President Centre for Petroleum Energy and Economics Law Students Association (CPEELSA)

C. He served as the National Secretary of National Council of Muslim Youth Organisation, Nigeria ( NACOMYO)

D. He served as Secretary of World Assembly of Muslim Youths(WAMY)

E. HE was the First President of Association of Science Students, Lagos state University, LASU,

Among others.

11. Political Front: In the year 2014, He was the Chairman, APC State Registration Committee for Osun state.

He was also Chairman, APC State Congress Committee for Kwara State, and member, APC House of Representatives (Serving member) Aspirants Screening Committee. 

Amongst other enviable achievement credited to Dr Yunus Akintunde.

Experience they say, is the best teacher, with the peculiarities of the National assembly, it's not a battle for the weak, but that of those with enviable political clout to challenge status quo of her peculiarities in lobbying, facilitating project and employments for those that needs it, empowerment for the poor and the masses.

It was Late Chinua Achebe who once said that _"the truest test of integrity is its blunt refusal to be compromised"._

In politics, there are distraction not to give dividends of democracy, as some school of thought opined, but, Dr. Yunus Akintunde, the incoming Senator of Oyo central Senatorial district has, over the years continually ignores all distractions, giving absolute stride in the attainment of his goals even in the midst of numerous challenges._

With Dr. Yunus Akintunde, Oyo central is in a safer hand. Let's canvass, mobilise and support the actualization of this paradigm shift.
