Private University: Ogbomoso set to host Education Summit on Saturday

As part of efforts to establish a privately owned university in Ogbomoso, the Ogbomoso Academics, in partnership with Ogbomoso Community Youth Forum (OCYF), will, on Saturday, organise a broad-based education summit themed “The Ogbomoso University: The Challenges and Prospects.” Ogbomoso, the second largest city in Oyo State, Nigeria, does not have any private university. The summit is expected to be attended by seasoned scholars and educational administrators of international repute. Justice Afolabi Adeniran (retd), President, Ogbomoso Parapo Worldwide, will be the Chief host at the summit which will, among others, consider the challenges inherent in the vision. LAUTECH Named Ogbomoso-Born Professor Kalilu As The First Indigenous VC

The Governing Council of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, Oyo State, has appointed Professor of Art and Art History, Razaq Olatunde Rom Kalilu, as the new Acting Vice-Chancellor of the institution for six months.   Kalilu joined the services of LAUTECH on September 1, 1992 and was pronounced a Professor of Arts and Arts History in the Department of Fine and Applied Arts, Faculty of Environmental Sciences, 24 years ago on October 1, 1999. His appointment as Acting Vice-Chancellor for the next six months, takes effect from June 12, 2023.  A release by the Registrar of the institution, Dr Kayode Ogunleye, stated that Kalilu was trained at the prestigious University of Ife and the University of Ibadan and he is a polymath and specialist in Form and Material Technology, beyond being known as a specialist in Painting, Digital and Electronic Art. Breaking: LAUTECH Named One Of The 10 Leading Universities In Nigeria.

Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, Oyo State, has again been named one of the 10th leading universities in Nigeria. Similarly, its position on the list also confirmed the institution’s ranking as the best state university in the country, the proclamation, which declared LAUTECH as among the 10th best university in Nigeria was made by the Times Higher Education (THE), after its assessment of 1,799 universities across 104 countries. In a statement forwarded to the Nigerian Tribune, on Thursday, by the university’s Public Relations Officer (PRO), Mr Lanre Fadeyi, “the ranking table is based on 13 performance indicators, including teaching, research, knowledge transfer, and International outlook. “Times Higher Education (THE) is a British Magazine reporting specifically on news and issues related to higher education.
