The much-anticipated Ogbomoso Marathon Race 3.0, scheduled for December 17, 2024, has received a significant boost from Hon. Sunday Dare FNIS, CON, the former Minister of Youth and Sports Development and the Agbaakin of Ogbomosoland through his David Ayoola Dare (DAD) Foundation.
Known for his philanthropic efforts and dedication to grassroots sports development, Hon. Dare has once again demonstrated his unwavering commitment to the advancement of the Ogbomoso community by making a generous financial donation to support the event.
Speaking about the donation, the convener of the event, Prince Oyebamiji Aderemi Joy, expressed profound gratitude to Hon. Sunday Dare for his continued support. “I'd like to extend our deepest gratitude to Hon. Sunday Dare FNIS CON for his unwavering support for the Ogbomoso Marathon Race from inception in our first edition, about 90 percent of our sponsorship comes from him. His generous financial and material contributions were instrumental in the event's success in our editions, inspiring participants across the country and organizers alike,” he said.
Prince Aderemi highlighted Hon. Dare's substantial contributions during the first edition of the marathon, which included providing 1,000 running bibs, 200 jerseys for officials, and facilitating the involvement and sponsorship of the Athletic Federation of Nigeria to officiate and ratify our standard. “This year, when we called upon him, he has again supported us hugely. We appreciate his investment in Ogbomoso's well-being and sports promotion” Prince Aderemi added.
Ogbomoso race 2024 tagged Unity Race 2024 will feature a 10km race starting from Welcome to Ogbomoso to the Ogbomoso Recreation Club and a 1km trekking event from SLA Akintola House to the Ogbomoso Recreation Club for aged people. The event is expected to draw participants from across the country and beyond, further promoting unity, sportsmanship, and community development.
