Ogbomoso University will stimulate the Community Development - Onigbinde

The proposed Ogbomoso University is a laudable Project that is set to promote the economic development of the second largest economy in Oyo State. The idea which has been on the table for a while by Ogbomoso Academics, a group of top class indigenous Professors  was first made public during the Inaugural Ogbomoso Economic Summit, this has resulted in growing interest by other stakeholders in development of Ogbomosoland, most especially the Ogbomoso Community Youth Forum.

At this stage, with the prove of acceptance of the Community University project, what is required is stakeholders engagement in form of Investment drive to raise the required funding.

The proposed university model will have a unique multicampuse model and will not only provide job opportunities, and  support security but will also create self dependent economy. It will proved that if the community can come together to develop a private University, it can also jointly engage in other private development projects.
With the Ogbomoso Education Summit coming up tomorrow in the city, the expectation is high, the community is set, more than ever before the commitment to make the University work is very high. The summit is expected to examine the challenges and opportunities regarding the project.

Prof. Timothy Olagbemiro, a former Vice Chancellor of two universities is expected to put his retirement to work in this project while the Youths and other stakeholders will keep up with all the support.
The Ogbomoso Economic and Investment Summit will keep promoting such a big project by attracting Investors, especially Foreign Direct Investment to the community. We look forward to a beautiful support from all stakeholders including community development association and our friends all over the world for the success of this project.

Benjamin Onigbinde is the CEO of Sigvent Group and Convener of Ogbomoso Economic and Investment Summit.
