Ogbomoso to Get Cashew Processing Plant As Minister Sunday Dare, NEPC Executive Director Meet With Local Cashew Farmers in Ogbomoso.
The Honorable minister of youth and sports development, Chief Sunday Akin Dare alongside the staff of Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC) led by its Executive Director/CEO ,Dr Ezra Yakusak on Monday met with Unity Farmers Association of Nigeria & Association Of Cashew Produce Buyers in Ogbomoso Ably represented by the Ogbomoso District Chairman Alh Wasiu Wale Adigun and the association general secretary Mr Ismael Mogba.
The meeting had in attendance all the 30 unity Chairmen of the association in the 5 Local Governments in Ogbomoso Land.
In his address, the President of Unity Farmers Association of Nigeria,Mr Aremu Tunde Micheal appreciated the Minister's efforts and commitment toward the well-being of farmers and development of Ogbomoso land which stood him out among the politicians from Ogbomoso land.
" We have tried in many ways to express our suffering to Government which has always proved abortive until the intervention of the Minister. I was surprised when I received a telephone call from the minister about this meeting because I never expected that a whole Minister could call me. Apparently,the minister has a very good intention for farmers in Ogbomoso land.On behalf of the entire members of Unity Farmers Association of Nigeria, I say thank you sir. Minister has lifted up our simple thought and God will lift him up. The Lord will help you sir" Mr Aremu said.
Also speaking,Dr Ezra Yakusak Executive Director/CEO of Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC) expressed the agency commitment to develop farmers product which cashew is one of them. He noted their investigation revealed that Ogbomoso cashew is the best among the 19 producing states in Nigeria. He thanked the Minister for drawing the attention of the agency to the suffering of farmers in Ogbomoso Land and promised that the agency will collaborate with farmer and establish Cashew Processing Plant in Ogbomoso.
"We are here to visit you in order to support you. We will establish a Cashew Processing Plant in Ogbomoso".Dr.Ezra said. He however noted that it will be of joint ownership between government and the farmers
In his address,the Honourable minister of youth and sports development,Chief Sunday Dare reiterated his plans to assist Farmers in Oyo state , particularly Ogbomoso Land in order to add value to the farm product and create employment, wealth in the state. The minister emphasized that the establishment of Cashew Processing Plant in Ogbomoso would reduce the waste of cashew fruits and delay in the export of raw nuts out of the country and boost morale of farmers in Oyo state. The minister however thanked the entire staff of the Nigerian Export Promotion Council for their positive response to the issue that affected Cashew Farmer in Ogbomoso Land and made announcement for the donation of the land for the establishment of the Cashew Processing Plant.
" I appreciate Dr Ezra Yakusak,Executive Director/CEO of Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC) and the entire staff for heeded to my call which led to this historical meeting. I and Dr Ezra met about 33years ago at NYSC camp and we have been a good friend since then. When he became CEO, I briefed him about the suffering of farmers in my state , particularly Ogbomoso Land . Thereafter,we had several meetings but due to hectic scheduled we couldn't fix a specific time to visit the farmers until we met again yesterday and brought him and his team here today for this meeting . When we support farmers and develop Cashew and other products,it will definitely create job for teeming Nigeria youths. I will continue to do everything to develop and support Farmers. I'm donating Land for the establishment of the Cashew Processing Plant.."

Also Speaking, Former Chairman of Ogbomoso North LCDA, Barrister Daud Suleiman appreciated the minister for his commitment to politics of development which have brought rapid development to Ogbomoso Land.He explained that what people see here today is one of many support from the minister to the farmers in Ogbomoso Land.He however noted that the Minister facilitated 80bed hospital, Sports Centre,over #1billon roads project , federal employment, federal appointment, empowerment Programmes among others to Ogbomoso.
In attendance were, Executive Director/CEO of NEPC,Dr Ezra Yakusak, PTPO Ibadan Mrs Adetayo Adetola, STPO Ilorin Attahiru Muhammed, Associates among others.
