New Soun: How We Advice Makinde To Consult Widely Before Ratification, Choose A Man Agreeable To All - Chief Imam

More facts have emerged on why the choice of Prince Afolabi Ghandi Olaoye by the kingmakers in line with the chieftaincy law as the new Soun of Ogbomosoland has not been approved by the Oyo state governor, Engr Seyi Makinde, the governor who is mute on the acceptance or objection of Prince Afolabi Olaoye known as Ghandi has given rise to tension in town.

Ogbomosoinsightonline gathers that Chief Imam of Ogbomosoland, Sheikh Teliat Oluwasina Yinus Ayilara, said, with a sense of triumph, that the governor was told to withhold assent to the choice sent to him by the kingmakers and make wider consultation for the benefit of peace.

Speaking as a guest at an Islamic programme hosted on Friday by the Chief of Staff to Governor Makinde, Chief Segun Ogunwuyi at his Ogbomoso resident, Sheikh Ayilara pointed out Makinde was emphatically advised during the last Ramadan at a programme in Ibadan not to approve “a nomination not agreeable to all.”

He informed how the governor was told to hold wide consultations before granting approval consequently applauding him for withholding ratification for wider consultation.

“During the Ramadan when the governor invited us, l spoke on two things,” Ayilara began.

“First, l told him concerning the installation of Soun that he should not just approve anything without adequate consultations.

“That day, many of you thought the governor did not hear me but he did, therefore, we thank our governor that he did not approve who is objectionable to all. “We will still appeal to him, he should consult our people at home very well, so that whoever is chosen will ignite widespread joy and he too will be happy.

“God that didn’t make him make mistake in that of Olubadan won’t make him make mistake in this one too,” he submitted.

“It’s hoped the governor will soon conclude his  'consultations’ so that Ogbomoso can have a new Oba, four months is enough to hold consultations, a concerned indigene noted, another concerned indigene asked who are they consulting after the kingmakers have presented the crown prince for ratification? while reacting to the submission.
