BREAKING: Oba Ghandi’s Reign As Soun Of Ogbomoso Continues As Court Grants Stay Of Execution

Respite has come to Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye as an Oyo State High Court sitting in Ogbomoso has allowed his application for stay of execution of nullification of his appointment as Soun of Ogbomosoland while the determination of appeal is pending.

This comes after Oba Olaoye’s appointment as the Soun was nullified by the court over procedural flaw in his nomination.

Issuing the order Monday (Nov 27), in suit no HOG/27/2022, presiding judge, Justice Kareem Adeyimika Adedokun, directed all the parties to maintain status quo ante pending the hearing and determination of the appeal already filed by the defense of Oba Olaoye and the Oyo state government.


Recall Oba Olaoye who was installed on September 8, 2023 by the kingmakers got his appointment nullified on October 25 in a suit filed by Prince Kabir Olaoye on the ground of breaching of the process of nomination.

Dissatisfied with the judgement, the monarch as well as the state government which approved the nomination filed independent appeals citing contradictions in the judgment in view of an earlier ruling on October 3 in which the judge Justice Adedokun ruled the process was right, proper and valid.

In the meantime, the appeal hearing is yet to commence.

With the granting of the stay of execution motion the Oba’s reign is back on track, the Oba who has traveled out of the country for sometime as a result of the renovation going on in the palace is expected to return any moment.

The final programme outline for the official coronation ceremony of His Imperial Majesty, Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye Orumogege III, the Soun of Ogbomosoland, has been released. Fire Accident Claims Lives of LAUTECH Final Year Students on Excursion

In a devastating incident, a yet-to-be confirmed number of 500-level Accounting students from Ladoke Akintola University (LAUTECH) in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, lost their lives in a fatal accident while returning from an excursion to Erin-Ijesa Waterfall in Osun State.
