APC Party Hierarchy Should Beware of Imposing Candidates
Parties all over the world are sure of winning elections based on the choice of consensus candidates both for appointive and elective posts, for such might have secured the mandate of the party members and its leaders.
APC party hierarchy and machinery, attentions are drawn to the ugly incident that just happened in Ogbomoso North Local Government elections, where the consensus party secretary duly endorsed by Ogbomoso APC party leaders like Senator Fatai Buhari, Honorable Olajumon Akala, Ex-Minister Sunday Dare, among others, has his name replaced with another candidate at the national level without any recourse!
The consensus candidate, Alabi Tunji Michael, has petitioned the Oyo State Chairman of the party on 16th March, 2026.
His petition was not looked into before the Chairman swore in another candidate, who was on the agreed and duly signed list, in his office.
Yesterday, 1st April, 2026, a letter of displeasure on the same matter was again signed by BAF Political Dynasty and addressed to the local government Chairman of the party, while other stakeholders were copied.
There were protests organized by party members against such injustice done to their chosen Secretary, Alabi Tunji Michael, popularly called ATM, at the party office Apake in Ogbomoso yesterday — the protest that prevented the party executives from sitting.
The group also lamented how some disgruntled elements went ahead to tamper with the agreed and duly signed ward executive lists.
The group promises to continue to seek for justice through peaceful protest and other sane means until the needful is done; otherwise, there will not be peace in the party in the local government, because minority will have a say but majority must have their way.
In view of this, APC party hierarchies and machineries are advised to investigate this matter and revert these anomalies by giving the position of secretary to Alabi Tunji Michael, who is the elected secretary for Ogbomoso North Local Government as consensus candidate.
For if care is not taken and the voice of the people listened to, it may affect the party performance in the coming elections. So, justice must prevail as harmony should exist between the national, state and local government levels of the party for the progress of the party.
