Researchers working on the Global Affairs Canada landscape analysis on sexual and gender-based violence in Oyo state have found high rate of rape in Ogbomoso. The team of experts which has Oyo State Coordinator for the UNFPA-GAC survey, Dr Adebimpe Adenugba, the Gender Reproductive Health Analyst of UNFPA, Dr Esther Somefun, Drs O.B Babalola, O.K Oyelade and Usman Ojedokun reported that drugs and alcohol consumption contribute to gender based violence in rural and rural-urban communities of the state than in urban areas. ​ ​ According to them, women in interior communities of Oyo State suffer high level of rape, assault, abuse among other vices. ​ These were part of a preliminary report submitted to the Oyo state Ministry of Health at the Exit/Validation meeting with stakeholders on Global Affairs Canada Landscape Analysis on Sexual and Gender-Based Violence, Harmful Traditional Practices and Obstetrics Fistula in the state. The stage is set again for the second edition of Ogbomoso marathon as the inauguration ceremony for this year's edition have been scheduled to hold on Sunday 29th August . Ogbomoso Marathon is one of the road races in Nigeria which is aimed at discovering talents, and projecting them for opportunities. On the early hour of Thursday 26th of August, a viral video of files movements in the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences in lautech hits the cyber space. The fake news video purported that the Faculty is already moving to Iseyin for the commencement of academic activities, however our correspondence visited the faculty of Agricultural Sciences in Lautech Ogbomoso to observe truly the state of things.  It was gathered that the video is fake,as all that happens was just rearrangements of files and maintenance in the Faculty building, one Mr Kazeem we spoke with our correspondence that" Truly the state government has created a college of agriculture and faculty of Natural science in iseyin, but the Ogbomoso existing Faculty has not receive any official information of movements to iseyin" perhaps only new students may be resuming to the iseyin new satellite campus. Nigeria Incentive-Based Risk Sharing System For Agricultural Lending, NIRSAL, trained prospective beneficiaries last week on Anchor Borrower program. The training was to give indepth knowledge about the program before disbursement of fund, starting from planting stages till marketing stages. The Programme which was to create a linkage between anchor companies involved in the processing and small holder farmers of the required key agricultural commodities.
